Honesty about Geek Squad at Best Buy

JUST SAY NO

This is what a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) had to say about Geek Squad after he worked for them for only 52 days.

The Geeky so called repair men who work for Best Buy.

In my opinion, this is information worth passing on to the general public.

“From day one, I was absolutely amazed at what Geek Squad really does. They are absolutely NOT technicians. Agents are not certified in computer repair or diagnostics! They are certified in sales, customer profiling, and situational tactics. I kid you not! I had to take 2 (100 question) exams based entirely on “expected computer repair costs from urban environments in today’s economy” and how to get the upper hand.”

If you are interested, read what he had to say in this link.

One of the worst IT experiences I have ever had was because of the Geek Squad. The entire time, while performing a terrible service, the kid kept trying to up-sell us on more product and service – and couldn’t answer some pretty basic technical questions about what he was offering. Best Buy needs to leave anything to do with a computer to the pros…not their lame squad.

Wow, Geek squad, the stories I have heard over the years. This just only proves how painfully bad the public needs good tech support. There is just no way in hell this company should still be in business, yet people keep blindly throwing money at them, because of pc related problems that the average person simply does not know how to fix. This type of bait and switch nonsense should be illegal. They do not present themselves as sales people, but it comes as little surprise based upon the many horros stories I have heard.

    Hope your well Bren.

That is why people like us need to inform others. Companies such as Best Buy should not be able to get away with deceiving the public.

I am posting that blog on all of my social sites. Hope you do to.

Thank you for your comment on my blog.

Those are some interesting comments from that ex-Squad tech. I have friends who have worked for them, and they report the same sort of nonsense. What a sham. They eventually make people pay more for services to “fix” their computer than to simply buy an new machine.
